Helping special kids get the special care they deserve.
If you are the parent of a child with special needs, you know how important it is to find a medical team who supports and adapts to her specific needs.
At our dental office, we have the advanced training, education, and experience to treat your child with the respect and care she deserves. Dr. Thomas Weyrich and his team are dedicated to doing everything we can to keep the smiles of our most special patients safe, strong, and healthy.
Keeping Care Comfortable
We understand that getting dental treatment can be a trial for both you and your child. But don’t worry, we’re here to help. Not only has Dr. Tom completed the two additional years of training required to treat children and patients with special needs, but he also has a special way of helping children feel safe and relaxed while in his care. Even children with autism who have never opened their mouths for another dentist have allowed Dr. Tom to clean and treat their teeth.
Our team has also had advanced training in relating to, and caring for people with special needs. We can help educate you on how dental health affects overall health, give you tips and tricks for how to maintain an oral health routine at home, and work with your child throughout the visit to keep everyone at ease.
Taking the Fear Out of Dentistry
We might say it a lot, but this is both our gift and our mission. We think every child, no matter what their needs might be, deserves to feel safe, happy, and healthy. Being afraid of the dentist doesn’t help with any of that!
Parents are always surprised at how much their children end up enjoying their visits with us. We take extra steps to make sure they always feel secure and unthreatened, knowing that we are helping them stay healthy. Our gentle, no-pressure approach, including the Tell, Show, Do technique, helps kids really understand what we are doing and that it isn’t a threat.
Sometimes pediatric patients require a little extra TLC when it comes to receiving dental treatment. For example, some children need one or multiple procedures, and more extensive work is required. We find these cases are more comfortably cared for with a pediatric anesthesiologist overseeing your child’s sedation.
Pediatric General Anesthesia (IV Sedation)
This alternative solution is just what its name implies. Instead of having dental work performed using laughing gas, we enlist the help of a pediatric anesthesiologist. With the assistance of an anesthesiologist, Dr. Tom will repair teeth right in our controlled, compassionate office that allows for comprehensive work to be completed all at once. Patients are always monitored closely during any procedure to ensure they are always relaxed and safe. Both the anesthesiologist and Dr. Tom are highly skilled at working with children who are under general anesthesia, so you can be sure your child can keep his or her smile for life. We want to support you in any way we can and make life easier for your whole family!
